Congratulations to 2022 12R Sapphire for setting and achieving a very audacious team goal this year; getting to the GOLD bracket in EVERY one of their tournaments!
At the beginning of the year, the girls of 2022 12R Sapphire, led by team captains Bridget Newtz and Jemma Weisel, decided on their own to challenge themselves with this goal. And NINE tournaments later, they’ve achieved it!
- 2/05/22 – The Edge Sports Academy – 5th in Gold
- 2/13/22 – Massillon Rec Center – 1st in Gold
- 2/19/22 – NEO Sports Plant – 3rd in Gold
- 3/06/22 – Massillon Rec Center – 1st in Gold
- 3/19/22 – Eastern Ohio Sports – 1st in Gold
- 3/26/22 – Kids America – 3rd in Gold
- 4/03/22 – Force Sports Eastlake – 2nd in Gold
- 4/23/22 – Kids America – 3rd in Gold
- 4/30/22 – Salem Community CenterPlex – 5th in Gold
And just as impressive, on their way to achieving this goal, they did not lose a single match in POOL play during those tournaments, finishing first on their net every time! This despite 4 of those 9 tourneys being 12U tournaments where they faced some formidable American and National teams.
2022 12R Sapphire is currently ranked #18 out of 176 regional teams in the OVR so they will have their work cut out for them at Regionals. Congratulations to them on an awesome season!
